John Thompson was born on March 31st, 1962, in Kankakee, Illinois. He is the third of four children born to Rev. J. Edward Thompson, Sr. and Marjorie V. Thompson.
John has spent over 40 years in ministry. Licensed in 1981 and ordained in 1990 John served as Co-Pastor of his home church, the Greater Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church in Chicago, Illinois. He has also served as Assistant to the Pastor at Rock of Ages Baptist Church in Maywood, Illinois, and as Ministry Coordinator at Cornerstone Missionary Baptist Church in Oakland, California. John has also served as Senior Pastor of two congregations, the Second Baptist Church of Hoffman Estates, Illinois, and the First Mount Calvary Baptist Church of Chicago, Illinois.
In addition to ministry John has had a varied and vast career in corporate America. He has achieved success in the retail industry as both a salesman and manager for companies such as Sears, Silo Electronics, Bachrach’s clothing, Malings shoes, and others.
In 2007 John received his insurance license and series 6 and 63 registration with the Financial Industry Regulatory Agency (also known as FINRA) as a licensed personal banker with Chase Bank. After two years with Chase Bank John went into the insurance industry. John has served as agency manager for GAB insurance of Atlanta, Georgia. He has served as property and casualty manager for Cape Insurance in McDonough, Gorgia. And he has served as the life insurance specialist for Kelly Lux State Farm of Alameda, California, and Finney Rajchel State Farm of Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois.
In 2019 John started this independent broker journey with his focus being financial Services based life insurance. In 2020 John established John Thompson Agency, LLC, a full service agency offering all lines of insurance including life insurance, health insurance, property and casualty insurance, business owners insurance, Medicare advantage insurance, and Medicare supplement insurance.
The goal of John Thompson Agency, LLC is to provide quality insurance along with quality service in order to produce satisfied clients and successful agents all over the country. John's aim is to manifest the motto of John Thompson agency LLC which is “Serving God by Helping You”.
